Hengaw – Saturday, June 20, 2026

Two Kurdish men from Dehloran County in Ilam Province, identified as Mostafa Mohammadi and Mojtaba Yavar, have been arrested by Iranian government forces and transferred to Ilam Central Prison. Their arrests came after they publicly exposed and criticized financial corruption involving local officials.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, government forces raided the home of Mostafa Mohammadi, on Saturday, June 20, 2026, arrested him, and transferred him to the Dehloran Justice Department.

Following his arrest, Mojtaba Yavar went to the courthouse to follow up on Mohammadi’s case and support his family. He was subsequently arrested inside the courthouse on the order of the presiding judicial official. After initial interrogation and the formal presentation of charges, both men were transferred directly to Ilam Central Prison.

According to informed sources, Mostafa Mohammadi has been accused of “having ties to hostile governments and Israel,” a charge sources describe as fabricated. Mojtaba Yavar has been charged with “publishing critical content on social media.”

Both men had recently used their social media platforms to expose and sharply criticize land grabbing and corruption by local authorities in Dehloran, drawing the attention and anger of government institutions.

Hengaw has learned that judicial authorities in Dehloran have set bail at 15 billion rials (1.5 billion tomans) for Mojtaba Yavar and 8 billion rials (800 million tomans) for Mostafa Mohammadi.

Mohammadi had previously been arrested by security forces during the protests of January 2026 and has a prior record of judicial prosecution.
