Evin prisoner Zahra Shahidi sentenced to two years in prison

Zahra Shahidi, one of the individuals arrested during the January protests in Iran, has been sentenced by the Iranian judiciary to two years in prison. She is currently being held in Tehran’s Evin Prison.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Shahidi, a 48-year-old Tehran resident and head of household, was recently sentenced to two years of discretionary imprisonment by a branch of the Revolutionary Court in Tehran.

Further details regarding the charges brought against her and the judicial branch that issued the verdict remain under investigation.

Shahidi was arrested by Iranian government forces on Saturday, January 10, 2026, while on a street in Tehran. She was subsequently transferred to the women’s ward of Evin Prison, where she remains detained.
