Husband kills wife, burns her body in Mashhad

A 35-year-old woman identified as Fatemeh K. was killed by her husband in Mashhad in what authorities have described as an "honor"-related killing. Her body was then burned and buried in a shallow grave.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the killing took place on Thursday, June 11, 2026. After strangling Fatemeh, the suspect transported her body to an area known as Kal-e Choopani in the desert near the Miami Road, set it on fire, and buried the remains in a shallow grave.

When investigators later searched the site, they found that wild animals had dug up the grave, leaving only scattered remains of the victim's body.

The state-affiliated Rokna news agency reported that the 41-year-old suspect, identified as Mojtaba F., initially claimed his wife had left their home on June 11 and never returned.

During the investigation, he was arrested and confessed to killing his wife, citing suspicions about her as the motive.

According to his confession, the killing followed an argument during which his wife said she had gone out with her boyfriend. He told investigators that he threw her to the ground and strangled her to death.
