IRGC member killed, another seriously wounded in armed attack in Piranshahr

An armed attack in Piranshahr killed a member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and seriously wounded another. A newly established anonymous group identifying itself as Xori Hiva (Sun of Hope) has claimed responsibility for the attack.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, gunmen attacked a vehicle carrying two members of the IRGC's 124th Ramadan Base, which operates under the Hamzeh Seyyed al-Shohada Headquarters, at around 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, near the Niroogah intersection in Piranshahr.

The attack killed Hamed Daeizadeh, also known as Hamed Bagherzadeh, a 32-year-old IRGC member from Urmia. The second IRGC member sustained serious injuries.

In a statement and video published on its Instagram account, Xori Hiva claimed responsibility for the attack and Daeizadeh's killing. The organization said the operation was carried out in retaliation for the IRGC's recent attacks on Kurdish political parties.

The group has previously claimed responsibility for the killing of two IRGC members in Paveh.
