Hengaw – Thursday, February 12, 2026
The death sentences of at least twelve prisoners, including one woman, three Kurdish prisoners, two Lor prisoners, and two Turkish prisoners, have been carried out in the prisons of Sari, Ilam, Kermanshah, Khorramabad, Tabriz, and Isfahan.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the prisonerd had previously been sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary on charges of “premeditated murder” or drug-related offenses.
The details are as follow:
Two Mazani prisoners from Sari — Taha Shirzad and Kazem Farajinajad, a 48-year-old father of two — were executed in Sari Central Prison at dawn on February 10, 2026. Both had been arrested about three years ago in separate drug-related cases and later sentenced to death.
On the same day, the death sentence of a Kurdish prisoner, Mohammadkaram Jafari from Sarpol-e Zahab, was carried out in Ilam Central Prison after he had previously been sentenced to death on a murder charge.
Earlier, at dawn on February 8, 2026, two Kurdish prisoners — Hadi Momeni and 24-year-old Shahriyar Veysi — were executed in Kermanshah Central Prison (Diesel Abad) on drug-related charges. Both had been arrested around three years ago and sentenced to death.
Executions were also carried out in Khorramabad Central Prison at dawn on February 7, 2026, where two Lor prisoners — Mokhtar Ataei from Aligudarz and 33-year-old Bahram Chamani from Khorramabad — were put to death in drug-related cases. Ataei had been on death row for about four years, while Chamani had been sentenced roughly two years ago on similar charges.
In Tabriz Central Prison, the executions of two Turkish prisoners — 40-year-old Biouk Namvarzad from Tabriz and 43-year-old Farhad Karimzadeh from Hashtrud — were carried out at dawn on February 3, 2026. Namvarzad had been sentenced to death about five years ago on a murder charge, and Karimzadeh had been on death row for approximately seven years in a similar case.
In Isfahan Central Prison (Dastgerd), three more executions were carried out at dawn on January 31, 2026. Those executed were Mehrdad Sayahi, 26, from Shahin Shahr; Aref Hashemi from Khomeini Shahr; and Mahnaz Roshani from Shahin Shahr. Sayahi and Hashemi had been sentenced to death on murder charges around four years earlier. The specific charges in the case of Mahnaz Roshani have not yet been confirmed.
Iranian state media, particularly outlets affiliated with the judiciary, have not announced these executions.
