At least seven Kurds detained in Bukan and Miandoab amid new wave of arrests

Iranian Intelligence Department forces arrested at least seven Kurds, Shwaneh Divazi, Luqman Qorbani, Hadi Azizi, Sediq Karimi, Rahman Khuzan, Omid Chawbaz, and Mohammad Hajizadeh, in Bukan and Miandoab (Miandoaw) amid a new wave of arrests across Kurdistan.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the arrests took place mainly in the early hours of Thursday, August 13, and Friday, August 14, 2026. Several raids involved severe violence, verbal abuse of family members, and searches of the detainees’ homes.
Those arrested on Friday, August 14:
Rahman Khuzan: A 35-year-old married father of two from Goli Marzing village in Bukan. Intelligence Department forces arrested him in the early hours of Friday, using severe violence and verbally abusing members of his family.
Omid Chawbaz: A 45-year-old from Bukan. Intelligence Department forces arrested him at 1:00 a.m. and transferred him to an undisclosed location.
Mohammad Hajizadeh: A 23-year-old from Gavmish Goli village in Miandoab. Intelligence Department forces arrested him on Friday.
Those arrested on Thursday, August 13:
Luqman Qorbani: A Kurd from Bukan. Iranian forces arrested him in the early hours of Thursday after raiding his home without presenting a warrant.
Shwaneh Divazi: A 48-year-old father of three from Chenaran village in Miandoab. Intelligence Department forces arrested him at 3:00 a.m. during a raid on his family home.
Hadi Azizi: A civil society activist from Bukan. Intelligence Department forces arrested him at 2:00 a.m. during a raid on his home. The forces damaged property and confiscated his personal belongings, including his laptop and mobile phone, as well as his vehicle.
Sediq Karimi: A former political prisoner from Gog Tappeh village in Bukan. Intelligence Department forces arrested him at 1:00 a.m. during a raid on his family home.
Authorities have not disclosed the reasons for the arrests, the charges against the seven individuals, the authority primarily responsible for their detention, or their whereabouts. Their families’ repeated inquiries with judicial and security authorities have so far been unsuccessful.
