Iranian authorities have sentenced Mehdi Khosravi, a 19-year-old resident of Karaj who was arrested during the January 2026 protests, to five years in prison.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Khosravi was recently sentenced by a branch of the Revolutionary Court in Karaj to a total of five years in prison on charges of "disrupting public order and peace" and "damaging public property."

Khosravi was denied access to legal counsel throughout the judicial proceedings, and the court notified him of the verdict only verbally, without providing a written copy of the ruling.

Khosravi, originally from Sabzevar in Razavi Khorasan Province, was arrested by Iranian security forces in Karaj on January 2, 2026, during the protests. After nearly four months in detention, he was released from prison on bail on April 21, 2026.
