Iranian security forces fatally shoot Arab man Hakim Vahidi in Mahshahr

Hakim Vahidi (Bani Taraf), an Arab resident of Jarahi (Chamran) in Mahshahr County, Khuzestan Province, died after being shot and seriously wounded by Iranian security forces.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Vahidi died from his injuries at a medical facility in Mahshahr on Thursday, September 17, 2026, a day after he was shot by Iranian security forces.

Security forces pursued Vahidi on Wednesday, September 16, before a member of the forces, identified as Iman Shirafi from Ramshir (Khalafieh), shot and seriously wounded him.

Iranian judicial and security authorities have provided no explanation for the pursuit or the shooting that resulted in his death.
