 Hangaw: Adel Mokarram, a kurdish political prisoner in Urmia’s Central Prison, has been sentenced to prison by the Iranian Revolutionary Court of  Urmia , West Azerbaijan.

 According to a report received by Hengaw Human Rights Organization, on Saturday, November 14, 2020, Adel Mokarram, a Kurdish political prisoner  Urmia Central Prison, has Been sentenced to 1 year in prison by the Second Branch of the Urmia Revolutionary Court, headed by Judge Sheikhlou, on charges of " "membership in Kurdish parties and illegal departure from the country."
 This political prisoner has been on a hunger strike since October 12, 2020 in protest of his indecision in prison, and has attempted suicide several times.  He has been finally returned from solitary confinement cell to the political ward today.
 
 Since Adel Mokarram has been in prison for more than 10 months, his sentence will be completed in less than two months. If his sentence depends on the judge’s verdict , it will be reduced to 9 months and he should be released in the coming days.

 Adel Mokarram was deported to Iran by the Turkish government in late December,2019 from the border of Khuy district of West Azerbaijan in Iranian Kurdistan .  He was finally transferred to Urmia’s central Prison and is still undecided after 4 months.

 He was tried by the Second Branch of the Iranian Revolutionary Court of Urmia, headed by Judge Sheikhlou, on September 29, and charged with "membership in Kurdish parties and illegal departure from the country."

 It is worth mentioning that Adel Makram was previously a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran and had gone to Turkey in summer to apply for asylum.
