Hengaw : A Kurdish citizen from Islamabad Gharb district of Kermanshah province in Iranian Kurdistan who had fallen into a coma after being detained due to beatings and torture by the Iranian intelligence forces has lost his life .
According to a report received by Hengaw Human Rights Organization, on Friday, January 15, 2021, Bahman Oghabi, 35, from the village of Chaqa Janga in Islamabad Gharb ,who was fallen into a coma after being beaten and tortured by Iranian intelligence forces in Kermanshah has died in "Khomeini" hospital of this city.
This citizen fell into a coma on Sunday, January 3, 2021, due to the beating and torture by Iranian Intelligence forces in Kermansahah , and had been hospitalised in the intensive care unit of Khomeini Hospital under a high security observation.
Earlier, Hengaw reported that Iranian intelligence agents had told Oghabi’s family that "their son had fallen into a coma due to taking tramadol pills." But His family has stated that he did not even smoke.
According to a source close to Oghabi’s family, Ezatullah Oghabi, Bahman Oghabi's father, complained to the intelligence agents, but no action was taken, and the Iranian prosecutor in Kermanshah requested only a hospital file, and no further investigations were done on agents in charge.
Bahman Oghabi has been wanted since Thursday, November 14 , 2019 , on charges of premeditated murder of three members of his family (his ex-wife, his young child and his ex-wife's mother) and on Thursday, December 31, 2020, Iranian State News Agency And Kermanshah TV, quoting the prosecutor of Islamabad Gharb and the police commander of Kermanshah, published the news of his arrest after a year in Tehran.
It is worth mentioning that torture of defendants in offices has sometimes become a common practice in law enforcement and security detention centers under the guise of technical interrogation, and every year a number of defendants lose their lives as a result of the same “technical interrogation”, which is a form of psychological and physical torture.
According to the statistics registered in the Statistics and Documentation Data Center of Hengaw Human Rights Organization, during 2020 at least 4 Kurdish prisoners identified as Khalil Moradi from Javanroud, Seyed Kamal Hosseini from Saqez, Daniel Zineh Al-Abedin from Mahabad and Farhad Vosoughi from Harsin were tortured and killed by Iranian security forces in Kermanshah, Saqez, Miandoab and Khorramabad prisons.
