Two Kurdish activists sentenced to a total of 37 years in prison in Urmia and Ilam

Hengaw : A civil activist from Darrehshahr district of Ilam province , and a religious activist from Urmia have been sentenced to a total of 37 years in prison by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to a report received by Hengaw Human Rights Organization, Ayub Salahvarzi, a civil activist from Darhamshahr, Ilam, was sentenced to 11 years in prison by first Branch of the Iranian Islamic  Revolutionary Courtin Ilam on charges of "insulting  the supreme leader , propaganda against the state through the arranging online  groups and spreading lies."

This sentence was issued in mid March 2021 and he has been recently notified.

Ayub Salakhorzi was arrested on Wednesday December 30, 2020 by Iranian  Intelligence forces , and after 40 days of detention, he was released on bail until  the trial.

On the other hand, Hamed Ali Mashkooh, a religious activist from Urmia, was sentenced to 26 years in prison by first Branch of the Iranian Islamic  Revolutionary Court in Urmia , headed by Judge Rajabi, and this sentence has  officially been announced to him on  Sunday, April 4, 2021.

  According to the verdict, Hamed Alimshkooh was sentenced to 15 years in prison for "forming a group with the intention of disrupting the security of the country", 10 years  for "membership in religious groups" and 1 year  for "propaganda against the state ".

Hamed Alimshkooh was arrested by Iranian Intelligence forces in Urmia  in the early summer 2020 and was transferred to the Urmia Central Prison in November 2020 .
