Kerman resident jailed to serve sentence

Ali Shahabi-Nejad, a resident of Kerman, has been arrested to serve a six-month prison sentence on charges of “propaganda against the state.”

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Shahabi-Nejad was detained on Saturday, May 24, 2025. The charge relates to a post he published on the platform X (formerly Twitter), in which he referred to President Ebrahim Raisi’s cabinet as a “crippled government.”

He was sentenced by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran and transferred to prison to begin serving his sentence.
