Hengaw : Two Kurdish activists  from Mahabad have been sentenced to imprisonment by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran and have been arrested to serve their sentences.

According to a report received by Hengaw  Human Rights Organization, two Kurdish Activists Mahabad activists named Suleiman Karimpour and Khaled Mohammadzadeh, who were arrested in late September 202 , were tried and sentenced by the Iranian Islamic  Revolutionary Court in Mahabad were sentenced to prison on charges of  "collaborating with the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran."

According to the verdict, Suleiman Karimpour was sentenced to 2 years in prison, including the days of his previous detention.

Also, Khaled Mohammadzadeh was sentenced to one year and five months in prison, and this sentence was reduced to one year and two months in prison on appeal, including the days of previous detention.

Suleiman Karimpour was arrested on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, and Khaled Mohammadzadeh was arrested in late March 2021  and transferred to Mahabad Central Prison.

These two citizens from the village of Khurkhorh were arrested by the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) forces on Friday, September 4 , 2020, while working on their farms, and were temporality released on bail after 70 days of being held  in  IRGC Intelligence Detention Center and Mahabad Prison.
