Urmia / Imposing imprisonment sentence of two Kurdish activists

Hengaw: Two Kurdish activists from Urmia who were arrested by security agencies in July, this year, were sentenced to prison. 
 
According to the report received by the Hengaw Human Rights Organization, on Monday, March 14, 2022, two citizens from Urmia, Amin Irani Zadeh and Shirzad Shoghi Ghassemlou, were sentenced to prison by the Revolutionary Court of Urmia. 
 
According to the verdict, Shirzad Shoghi Ghassemlou from the village of "Mam Braym" and Amin Iranizadeh from the village of "Ghassemlou" were respectively sentenced to 3 years, and 2 years and 6 months in prison, on charges of "acting against national security" through membership in the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran". 
 
Amin Irani Zadeh was arrested on Monday, July 5, 2021, and Shirzad Shoghi Ghassemlou was arrested by security forces on Sunday, July 11. 
 
The two citizens were released on bail after about two months of detention from Oshnavyeh Prison on Saturday, August 28, 2021. They released temporarily until the end of proceedings. 
 
Hengaw had previously reported that the two citizens had been deprived of having access to lawyer and family visits during their detention.
