A Kurdish soldier from Salmas called Moharram Ashrafi, 22, was killed by his superior with a gun on Thursday, September 8, 2022.
According to the report received by Hengaw Human Rights Organization, Moharram Ashrafi, a police soldier who was serving his mandatory military service in one of the barracks in Chaypare city, was killed when he had only 40 days left for his service.
A source close to Ashrafi's family told Hengaw: "For the past few months, the Guard Officer has clashed with Moharram Ashrafi several times due to ethnic/religious differences and even threatened to kill him before."
This source further stated that the security agencies told Ashrafi's family that this killing was unintentional and threatened them that this matter should not be covered by the media at all.
It is worth mentioning that Moharram Ashrafi is from the village of Haftvan (Haftawan) of Salmas, and his funeral ceremony was held on Friday in his native village.
