According to the report received by the Hengaw human rights organization, on the evening of Friday, November 11, 2022, Iranian government forces attacked several youths who were writing slogans in Qal’eh Hasan Khan (Quds City) of Tehran. They arrested Saman Rahmani, a Kurdish citizen from Takab, West Azerbaijan (Urmia) province, and bit him in the head with batons. Also, his other friends were able to escape.
According to one of Saman Rahmani's friends, the Iranian government forces immediately took Saman, who had fallen to the ground, and called his family on Saturday to contact the forensic doctor, Qal’eh Hasan Khan, to identify him.
Hengaw has been informed that on Saturday evening, under the pressure of the security agencies, all the family members and relatives of the Rahmani family gathered in the house of one of them, and one of the personnel of the Intelligence Department in Takab threatened them that this news should not be published in the media and threatened them with arrest and long-term sentences.
The body of Saman Rahmani was buried at the Sharif Abad neighborhood’s cemetery at 5 in the morning on Sunday, November 13, 2022.
One of the relatives of the Rahmani family told Hengaw: "Nearly 10 members of the government forces accompanied Saman's body from Tehran to Takab, and after entering Takab, they did not allow his body to be washed in the Sharif Abad neighborhood’s mosque, and without any primary coordination and to prevent people’s gatherings, they buried his body with the presence of a few of his family members."
This source further said, "Due to the pressure of the Intelligence Department in Takab, the two Telegram channels of Takab's funeral were not allowed to publish Saman’s obituary, and the obituaries pasted on the walls of the Sharifabad neighborhood were also torn by the intelligence forces."
28-year-old Saman Rahmani went to Tehran two years ago with his mother and siblings and lived there; his father was living in Takab.
Based on the statistics recorded at the Statistics and Documents Center of Hengaw Human Rights, during the recent revolution, at least eight Kurdish citizens have been killed by the Iranian government forces in the Iranian cities of Tehran, Karaj, Hamedan, and Qazvin.
