The Revolutionary Court of Ilam sentenced Dr. Aref Omidi, one of the recent detainees of the current protests, to two years in prison.

According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Aref Omidi, a resident of Ilam, has been sentenced to two years in prison by the revolutionary court of this city headed by Judge Mohammadi in the past few days.

Aref Omidi, from Malikshahi, Ilam, is 36 years old and has a Ph.D. in structural engineering.

Aref Omidi was injured by a bullet during the protests in Ilam. He was taken to the detention center of the security institutions without receiving medical treatment.

This citizen was arrested by government forces on Friday, September 23, 2022, and after spending 15 days of interrogation in government institutions, he was temporarily released on bail.
