Hengaw: Friday, December 30, 2022.

The Islamic Revolutionary Court in Mahabad sentenced each of the four citizens, Seyed Mohammad Shukri, Amir Abdullahzadeh, Ali Hakimi, and Saman Ghazali, to years of imprisonment.

According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the first branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Court in Mahabad, presided over by Judge Ajaqlo, sentenced citizens Amir Abdullahzadeh and Seyed Mohammad Shukri to 4 years and 9 months imprisonment each.

Also, Ali Hakimi, another citizen from Mahabad who is currently in prison, was sentenced to 3 years and 4 months in prison.

Saman Ghazali, a civil rights activist, journalist, and former political prisoner, was also sentenced by the same court to 8 months in prison and one year of deprivation from the journalism profession.

Seyed Mohammad Shokri, Amir Abdullahzadeh, and Ali Hakimi were arrested by the government forces during the popular uprising in the city of Mahabad at the end of October 2022.

The issuance of these sentences comes when these three citizens, like other detainees from the recent uprising, have been denied access to a lawyer and other basic human rights.
