Kamal Salehzadeh, a master's student at Tehran University of Arts, has been on a hunger strike since 10 days ago in protest of the security situation in this university and the suspension of students and professors.
According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, since Saturday, February 8, 2023, Kamal Salehzadeh, a resident of Sardasht and a student at Tehran University of Arts, has gone on a hunger strike to protest against the security situation at his university and the prosecution of students and professors.
In a statement published on his Instagram account, he listed his demands as follows: "Equal rights for all citizens; abolition of all oppressive and discriminatory laws against women and the LGBTQ society; the right to choose outfits for all citizens, especially women."
Kamal Salehzadeh also emphasized, "multilingual and flexible education in the mother tongue, common language (Persian), and international language (English), ending the cultural occupation of the country, the complete abolition of the death sentence, and the release of all political prisoners, whether they're the prisoners of the recent uprising or before it."
He wrote to Mohammadreza Hosnaie, the president of Tehran University of Arts: "Either all the professors and students who were reprimanded, suspended, expelled, banned from entering, or subjected to any other kind of deprivation will return to the university unconditionally and respectfully this week, or you will resign."
In the end, Kamal Salehzadeh emphasized the continuation of his hunger strike and announced that he would not give up on his demands.
