The death sentence of a female prisoner from Rudbar Jonib named Leila Bameri, who was previously sentenced to death for drug-related crimes, was carried out in the central prison of Kahnuj in Kerman province.
According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Monday, February 27, 2023, the death sentence of Leila Bameri, a prisoner from the village of "Peng" in Rudbar Jonub of Kerman Province, was carried out in Kohnouj prison.
According to the campaign of Baloch activists, this Baloch citizen was married and the mother of two children. In 2021, she was arrested on charges of drug-related crimes and sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary.
The news of the execution of this prisoner has not been announced in the Iranian state media or the media affiliated with the judiciary.
Based on the statistics registered in the Statistics and Documents Center of Hengaw, during the first two months of 2023 (January and February), at least 102 prisoners have been executed in Iran's prisons.
Based on this report, the most executed prisoners were Kurdish citizens with 33 cases, followed by Baloch citizens with 15 cases. In other words, nearly half of all executions in Iran in the past two months were of Kurdish and Baloch citizens.
