On Sunday, April 16, 2023, Kamal Lotfi, the father of Reza Lotfi, one of the victims of the uprising in Dehgolan, was arrested by the Iranian authorities and taken to an unknown location.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Kamal Lotfi, a resident of Dehgolan and a member of the families of those killed during the countrywide uprising in the city, was arrested without any warrant or court orders.

An informed source revealed that Mr. Lotfi was apprehended on the streets of Dehgolan without a legal order present and transferred to an unknown location.

Mr. Lotfi had been under pressure by authorities for several months, following the death of his son. In response to the government's claim that his son was killed by armed oppositions, he released a video denying these claims and stating that his son was actually killed by government forces.

Reza Lotfi, 19, from Dehgolan, was shot and killed during the mass protests in the city of Dehgolan on Monday, September 19, 2022, by direct shot from the Iranian government armed forces.
