Abdullah Badawi, from Urmia, who was deprived of medical services in the prison of this city for the past eleven years, died due to the worsening of his illness.
According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Saturday, April 15, 2023, Abdullah Badawi, a prisoner from Urmia who suffers from heart failure and diabetes, was cut off from access to medicine and medical care by order of Urmia prison officials and he lost his life.
Abdullah Badawi, 65, was deprived of the right to access medical services despite the warnings of Urmia Prison's medical personnel and sent on sick leave since 2014.
Abdullah Badawi was arrested in May 2014 on the charge of "acting against national security" by being a member of one of the Kurdish parties and was sentenced to 2 years in prison. In another case, he was sentenced to death on charges related to "narcotics", which was later changed to life imprisonment.
