Urmia prison: Denial of necessary medical treatment caused the death of a prisoner from Bukan

Naser Hassanpour, a Kurdish prisoner, passed away in Urmia Central Prison due to the authorities' denial of medical treatment for an extended period of time.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Naser Hassanpour, a Kurdish prisoner from Bukan who has been suffering from an illness due to a lack of medical treatment, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023.

According to an informed source, even though Mr. Hassanpour was diagnosed with heart complications in recent years, he was still refused medical attention by the prison authorities.

Despite Mr. Hassanpour’s repeated requests for medical leave and denial by the authorities, eventually, he died on the way to the hospital on Monday.

Naser Hassanpour was charged with financial-related crimes and had spent the last five years in Urmia prison.
