Retired teacher and teacher's union activist Gholamreza Gholami Kendazi was sentenced to six years in prison, two years of exile in Birjand, and extra sanctions by The Revolutionary Court of Shiraz.
 

According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, The first branch of the Revolutionary Court of this city, presided over by Judge Mahmoud Sadati, recently sentenced Gholamreza Gholami Kendazi, a teacher from Shiraz, to five years in prison on the charge of "membership in virtual groups against the regime" and to one year on the charge of "propaganda against the regime."
 

The five-year prison sentence for Mr.Kendazi shall be enforced in accordance with the Accumulation of Sentences article of the Iranian Penal Code.
 

This retired teacher was also sentenced to a two-year exile to Birjand as an additional punishment, a two-year passport cancellation restriction, and a two-year prohibition on engaging in any online activities.
 

On March 7, 2023, while participating in a protest assembly in front of the General Directorate of Education in the Fars province, Gholamreza Gholami Kendazi and a number of other teachers were detained by authorities. They were released just a few hours later.
