Former political prisoner Keyomars Vaezi sentenced to five years in prison

Keyomars Vaezi, a Turkish teacher and former political prisoner from Songhor and Koliai in Kermanshah province (Kermanshah), has been sentenced to five years in prison by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He was arrested during the December protests.
According to information received by Hengaw, Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Sonqor, presided over by Judge Sadeq Tari Verdi, sentenced Vaezi to four years in prison on the charge of “assembly and collusion against national security,” and one year on the charge of “propaganda against the government.”
Keyomars Vaezi was arrested on the morning of Monday, January 5, 2026, by plainclothes agents of the Intelligence Department near his home without being shown a warrant and was transferred to Kermanshah Central Prison (Diesel Abad).
He had previously been arrested and faced judicial prosecution during the Woman, Life, Freedom (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi) movement.
