Authorities in Piranshahr city have detained Sadq Mahmudnejad, one of the injured protestors from the Jin, Jiyan, and Azadi movements.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organisation for Human Rights, on Monday, July 3, 2023, at his residence, government forces detained Sadq Mahmudanjad, a married father of one from Jeran village, in the Central District of Piranshahr County.
Despite undergoing multiple stages of eye surgery at the Imam Khomeini Hospital in Urmia, the Farabi Hospital in Tehran, and the Sajjad Hospital in Ramsar, Sadq Mahmudnejad's left eye's vision decreased by roughly 20%.
During the Piranshahr protests in the "Mamosta Hajar" square on the evening of September 21, 2022, Sadq Mahmudnejad was shot directly in the eye area by government forces.
The charges brought against Sadq Mahmudnejad, as well as his whereabouts and custodial status following his detention by government authorities, are not fully made available.
