The execution of a minimum of 24 prisoners took place over the past week

Based on the statistics registered in the Statistics and Documents Center of the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, From Saturday, August 5th, to Friday, August 11th, a minimum of 24 prisoners received death sentences within Iranian prisons, with an average of seven prisoners being sentenced to death every two days.
According to the report, Marand Central Prison accounted for the majority of executions, with a total of five cases. The Central Prison of Karaj recorded four executions, while Hamedan Central Prison had three. Arak, Shiraz, Mashhad, and Kerman prisons each had two executions, and Dezful, Qazvin, Neyshabur, and Yasuj prisons had one execution each.
Out of the total of 24 executed prisoners, a minimum of 16 cases, which accounts for approximately 66.5% of the total, were subjected to the death penalty for drug-related crimes. Furthermore, five prisoners were condemned to death for rape, two for intentional murder, and one for armed robbery.
Over the course of the previous week, executions were carried out on five Turkish prisoners, three Kurdish prisoners, two Lor and Bakhtiari prisoners, as well as one Baloch prisoner and one Afghan citizen.
