Execution of Two Prisoners in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj

The death sentences of two prisoners, Mohammad Ali Mirzaei from Nurabad, Lorestan province, and Mahmoud Mirzaei, a Turkish individual from Mianeh, were carried out in Ghezel Hesar prison in Karaj. The execution took place after 27 years of imprisonment for one of them.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the executions occurred at dawn on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. Both individuals had previously been sentenced to death by the Karaj Revolutionary Court due to drug-related crimes.

According to a reliable source, Mahmoud Mirzaei had been incarcerated for 27 years. The two prisoners were transferred to solitary confinement on Monday preceding the execution.
