Arrest of Seven female activists in Gilan

Seven female activists from the cities of Rasht, Fuman, and Bandar- e Anzali were arrested in Gilan, including Matin Yazdani, Frough Saminia, Yasmin Hashdari, Jelveh Javaheri, Negin Rezaei, and two sisters named Zahra Dadres and Zohreh Dadres.
According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, Matin Yazdani, a photographer, along with Forough Saminia, Jelveh Javaheri, Zahra Dadras, and Zohreh Dadras, women's rights activists from Rasht, were arrested by government forces.
At the same time, government forces apprehended two other women's rights activists, Yasmin Hashdari, from Bandar- e Anzali, and Negin Rezaei, from Fuman.
According to informed sources, government forces, without providing an arrest warrant or authorization from the judiciary, conducted a violent raid into the residences of these women rights activists during their arrest.
As of the time of this reporting, there is no information about the charges against Matin Yazdani, Forough Saminia, Yasmin Hashdari, Jelveh Javaheri, Negin Rezaei, Zahra Dadres, or Zohreh Dadres, as well as their custodial status.
