Somaiyeh Sarikhani, the mother of Erfan Sarikhani, a fallen protester of the “Jin, Jian, Azadi” Movement, has been detained by the security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
 

According to reports received by the Hengaw organization for human rights, on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, Somaiyeh Sarikhani, a member of the families seeking justice, was arrested by security forces in Tehran.
 

Sources familiar with the matter have indicated that Somaiyeh Sarikhani was apprehended at her residence and transferred to an undisclosed location. The precise reasons for her detention remain unknown at this time.
 

Erfan Sarikhani, a 22-year-old resident of Tehranpars in Tehran province, was taken into custody by security forces on October 17, 2022, and his lifeless body was later discovered near Jajrood.

The initial cause of his death, as determined by the forensic medicine authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran, was listed as "unknown," but following a complaint by his family, it was later changed to "suicide." His remains were laid to rest in the Behesht-e Zahra cemetery in Tehran on November 1, 2022.
