The execution sentences of at least three prisoners held in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj have been implemented. The identities of these prisoners are reported as Ali Najafi, Abolfazl Bayat (who, according to some sources, was 16 years old at the time of the crime), and Bahram Mohammadi, as verified by Hengaw.
According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the execution sentences for Ali Najafi from Toyserkan, Hamadan province, Abolfazl Bayat, a 20-year-old from Robat Karim in Tehran, and Bahram Mohammadi from Tehran, were carried out on the morning of Wednesday, September 27th, 2023.
According to some sources, Abolfazl Bayat was a minor, just 16 years old, when he allegedly committed the crime. Hengaw continues its efforts to investigate this matter and gather further details. He had previously been sentenced to death by the judicial authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran on charges of killing one of his friends.
Furthermore, Ali Najafi, a father of a ten-year-old girl, was convicted of killing a soldier named Abdoljabbar Makhtoomnejad while being chased and suspected of carrying narcotics approximately two years ago. Following his arrest, he was sentenced to death on charges of premeditated murder.
Another prisoner, Bahram Mohammadi, was charged with alleged murder using acid. He was detained around 13 years ago after allegedly killing his ex-girlfriend by throwing acid on her. Subsequently, he was sentenced to death by the judicial authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Simultaneously with the execution of these three prisoners, Reza Sanamzadeh, a prisoner from Nurabad in Lorestan residing in Tehran, who had been transferred to solitary confinement earlier this week for execution, has been returned to the general ward. He, too, was sentenced to death five years ago for homicide.
As of the time of this report, the execution of these three prisoners in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj has not been officially announced in government-affiliated media, particularly those linked to the judiciary.
