A Kurdish refugee family faces deportation from Turkey to Iran

Rahim Eliasi (Shahram Eliasi) Kurdish citizen from Marivan and a refugee living in Turkey, along with his family, is facing deportation to Iran. He is one of the political asylum-seekers whose extradition to Iran was previously reported.
According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Monday, October 23, 2023, the Turkish Immigration Department called Rahim (Shahram) Eliasi, a former political prisoner, and his wife Leila Rawand, and informed them that their asylum interview has been disapproved after 10 years of residence this country.
Rahim Eliasi has announced that this negative result has been communicated without a logical and legal reason, adding that there is only a 10-day deadline for legal objection from the date of notification.
This former Kurdish political prisoner and asylum seeker told Hengaw this: "Since 2014, I came to Turkey and registered in the province of Van, and in 2015 I received an acceptance response from the United Nations. 8 years after the acceptance, and almost 10 years of waiting in Turkey, the UN representative in Ankara, while they have not done anything to relocate me and my family to a safe country; instead, they have imposed pain and suffering on my family for all these years."
It is worth noting that it has been 10 years since this political refugee has been residing in Turkey with his wife and two young daughters, and they were accepted as refugees in 2015 in an interview with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Ankara office.
Rahim Eliasi was arrested on October 8, 2008, in Malard, Tehran province, and after 60 days in solitary confinement of the IRGC in Rajaeeshahr prison, he was sentenced to 11 years in prison by the first branch of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court in Shahriar on the charge of "acting against national security".
This former political prisoner was sent on a 15-day leave from Rajaeeshahr prison in Karaj after spending 6 years in Rajarishahr prison, Ward 350 of Evin, and then Marivan prison by posting bail of 100 million tomans and then left Iran forever.
