Government forces have recently detained five children, namely Peshawa Nabi (16 years old), Karzan Nabi (15 years old), Komar Nabi, Farzin Nabi, and Hedi Yousefi, intensifying concerns about the situation in Piranshahr.

According to reports obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights,on Monday, November 20, 2023, the apprehension of 16-year-old Komar Nabi, along with Peshawa Nabi and Karzan Nabi, occurred in their parental residence in Piranshahr without proper warrants.

Prior to this event, on the night of Sunday, November 19, 2023, 14-year-old Farzin Nabi was taken into custody at his workplace on Mola Reza St. in the city.

Simultaneously, in Piranshahr, another teenager, Hedi Yousefi (16 years old), was forcefully apprehended at his residence.

These five individuals have been transported to undisclosed locations. Despite tireless efforts by their families to obtain information, details regarding the reasons for the arrests, charges filed against them, or their current status remain unavailable as of this news release.

In line with the Convention on the Rights of the Child, to which the Iranian Government is a signatory and treats as part of domestic law under Article 9 of the civil law, detention without trial is permissible only as a last resort and in cases of necessity. Article 287 of the Code of Criminal Procedure in the I.R.I.'s domestic law similarly upholds this principle, emphasizing that children should be handed over to their parents or legal guardians. Any detention during preliminary investigations should only occur after a thorough examination of the necessity of the case
