The execution of an inmate identified as Ali Mashahdi has been carried out at the central prison in Mashhad. Ali Mashahdi faced the death penalty for a charge of "homicide."
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights on Wednesday, January 17, 28-year-old Ali Mashahdi, a resident of Alteimor neighborhood in Mashhad city, was executed at the central (Vakil Abad) prison of Mashhad.
According to a reliable source, Ali Mashahdi had committed a homicide by fatally shooting his friend following a dispute in 2020. The judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran sentenced him to capital punishment for this crime.
The same source revealed that Ali Mashahdi is the third member of his family to face execution within past years in Iranian prisons.
In this context, The Etemaad newspaper reported today on this execution, stating that shortly after committing the murder, the inmate voluntarily surrendered to the police.
