Matin Hassani, a resident of Bukan and a visually impaired victim of the November 2019 protests, has been arrested by the security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and transferred to an undisclosed location.

According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, Matin Hassani, 23, was arrested in a raid on his family residence by Iranian security forces in the city of Bukan.

Informed sources state that Mr. Hassani was arrested two days after visiting the burial site of Yalda Aghafazli, another victim, who lost her life during the protests, and the subsequent release of a video regarding this event.

Yalda Aghafazli, an artist and an activist, was detained during the “Jin Jian, Azadi” Movement in Tehran by security forces and suspiciously lost her life after being released from prison.

Matin Hassani had previously attended the burial sites of other victims, including Jina Amini, Nika Shakarami, and Kian Pirfalak.

It is worth noting that this injured young man suffered an eye injury in his left eye during the bloody November 2019 uprising by government forces in direct shots fired in close range.

In December 2019, while seeking treatment for his injured eye in Tehran, he was detained by authorities at a medical center and later released on bail.
