The death sentence of a prisoner from Malekshahi, identified as Sattar Arghandeh, was carried out on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, in Ilam Central Prison, whereas he was sentenced to death only on the basis of the Judge’s personal knowledge.
According to a report received by Hengaw, Sattar Arghandeh was arrested by security forces two years ago on charges of premeditated murder and sentenced to death by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
It is worth mentioning that Sattar Arghandeh is married, has two children, and has not confessed to the murder in the last two years. There is no evidence that proves he has committed the murder, and he has been sentenced to death only on the basis of "the Judge's personal knowledge".
According to statistics recorded at the Statistics and Documentation Center of Hengaw Human Rights Organization, at least 43 prisoners have been executed in various prisons in Iran over the past 16 days.
Hengaw Human Rights Organization had previously reported, citing informed sources, that following a meeting between Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei, the head of the Judiciary of Iran, and the Attorneys General in Iran, it was decided to immediately execute all final death sentences of inmates in all prisons in the country.
He had also warned about implementing the sentences.
