Kurdish mother , Zeinab Ismaili’s sentence reduced to one year in prison by the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court

Hengaw : A kurdish woman from Dehgolan district in Kurdistan province, who was recently sentenced to 5 years in prison by a court of first instance, had her sentence reduced after appealing.

 According to a report received by Hengaw Human Rights Organization, 58-year-old Zeinab Ismaili, a member of the Mothers of Peace, has been sentenced to one year suspended imprisonment by the First Branch of the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj, headed by Judge Saeedi, on charges propaganda against the regime.

She had previously been tried in absentia by a court of first instance and sentenced to 5 years in prison on charges of membership in the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and one year on charges of propaganda against the regime.

 The trial of Zeinab Ismaili was held on Saturday, November 22, 2020. 

 Zeinab Ismaili was detained  by the Iranian intelligence service in Dehgolan  on Thursday, February 27, and was temporarily released on bail after one month detention.
