The death sentences of two prisoners called Vahid Behmaram from Urmia and Qelich Shokouei from Nichalan village in Sarv district of Urmia, who had previously been sentenced to death for drug-related crimes, were carried out on Friday, June 10, 2022, in Urmia Central Prison. 
 
The two prisoners, along with another prisoner identified as Mohammad Reza Ghorbani, were transferred from the drug-related ward (former ward 15) to solitary confinement in Urmia Central Prison yesterday. 
 
No exact information is available about the fate of Mohammad Reza Ghorbani. 
 
Mohammad Reza Ghorbani and Qelich Shokouei have previously been sentenced to death by the first instance court in a joint case on drug-related charges. After violating this ruling by the Supreme Court and referring it to the equivalent branch court, the two were sentenced to death again by Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court of Urmia, headed by Judge Sheikhlou.
