Hengaw’s special report on day five of the Iran–Israel War

At least 524 dead, including 450 military personnel and 74 civilians — among them 28 women and 19 children

Based on verified data collected from credible local sources across Iran, the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights confirms that at least 524 people have been killed during the first five days of direct armed conflict between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Israel. Among the dead are 74 civilians and 450 members of the military and security forces, including IRGC-affiliated personnel and people tied to Iran’s defense and intelligence infrastructure.
Hengaw has also documented the deaths of 28 women and 19 children among the civilian casualties. Over 89% of all civilian fatalities occurred in Tehran province.
Civilian death toll: 74 confirmed fatalities
At least 74 civilians have been killed in airstrikes and missile attacks over the past five days. So far, 64 of these victims have been fully identified. Among them are 26 women and 19 children. It should be noted that, one of the victims is from Afghanistan.
Geographic breakdown of civilian deaths:
• Tehran Province: 66 deaths
• Hamedan Province: 4 deaths
• Kermanshah (Kermashan): 2 deaths
• East Azerbaijan: 1 death
• Isfahan: 1 death
19 children killed in direct Israeli strikes
Hengaw confirms that 19 children were killed in airstrikes targeting Tehran Province. Among them were 10 girls and 9 boys — the youngest victims were just 2 and 7 months old, while the oldest was 17.

28 women Killed, including 2 IRGC affiliates
Hengaw has verified the deaths of 28 women, all in Tehran Province. Among the deceased are Fatemeh Bagheri and Elham Farahmand, both affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), while the remaining 26 were civilians.
450 military and security personnel killed across Iran
Since the start of the war on Friday, June 13, 2025, the number of military fatalities has surged. Hengaw’s field data shows that at least 450 personnel from the Army, IRGC, Law Enforcement, Basij, as well as nuclear scientists and high-ranking experts linked to Iran’s defense apparatus, have been killed.
To date, 158 people have been fully identified by Hengaw. The provinces with the highest number of military fatalities are Tehran, East Azerbaijan, Kermanshah, and Lorestan.

In Tehran Province, the hardest-hit region, 195 military personnel have died, including at least 10 senior IRGC commanders, 10 nuclear scientists, and 2 state-affiliated elite technicians, all of whom have been identified by Hengaw.
Hengaw’s appeal to action
Hengaw strongly condemns the escalating civilian toll and the military intensification of the Iran–Israel conflict. The organization urges the international community and global human rights institutions not to overlook the deteriorating human rights situation in Iran amid the chaos of war. Immediate and coordinated actions are needed to protect civilians, especially women and children.
