Despite ceasefire, IRGC launches 18 attacks on Kurdistan parties’ camps, leaving 4 dead and 9 injured
Hengaw – Friday, April 24, 2026
Despite the ceasefire between Iran, the United States, and Israel, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and its affiliated proxy groups in Iraq have continued systematic attacks on camps and headquarters of Kurdistan political parties, as well as civilian residential areas in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Over the past 16 days, these attacks have killed 4 people and injured at least 9 others.
According to data recorded by the Statistics and Documentation Center of Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, since the ceasefire was announced on April 8, 2026, IRGC forces and their affiliated militias in Iraq have carried out at least 18 missile and suicide drone attacks on camps of Kurdistan parties deep inside the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The latest figures were compiled on Friday, April 24.
Human toll of the attacks
The strikes deliberately targeted residential camps and areas where families were living, resulting in the following casualties:
At least 4 people were killed. The victims were identified as three female Peshmerga fighters — Ghazal Mawlan, a member of Komala Party of Kurdistan, Neda Miri, and Samira Allahyari — along with a 17-year-old civilian, Shahin Azarbarzin. The latter three were affiliated with the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI).
At least 9 Peshmergas were also seriously wounded and transferred to medical centers. The condition of one of the injured has been reported as critical.
According to Hengaw data, during the past 16 days, camps and headquarters of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan were targeted at least 7 times.
Camps belonging to Komala Party of Kurdistan and Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK) were each attacked 4 times. Camps of the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan were struck twice, while a camp of Komala Organization of Kurdistan of the Communist Party of Iran was targeted at least once.
Hengaw notes that during the 40-day war, camps and headquarters of these parties were attacked at least 167 times, resulting in the deaths of 5 Peshmerga fighters and injuries to 30 others.
Violation of international law and the sovereignty of the Kurdistan Region
Hengaw Organization for Human Rights stresses that despite the announced ceasefire between Iran, Israel, and the United States, the Islamic Republic has not only failed to halt its attacks on Kurdish parties, but has expanded them through the use of proxy groups in Iraq.
These assaults are not only a continuation of the Islamic Republic’s regional warmongering, but also a clear continuation of its long-standing policy of killing Kurds and retaliating against them.
These actions constitute a clear violation of Iraq’s national sovereignty and the sovereignty of the Kurdistan Region, as well as a direct breach of international conventions concerning the protection of civilians in conflict zones.
The deliberate bombing of family residences and the killing of a 17-year-old boy once again demonstrate the Islamic Republic’s disregard for humanitarian and human rights principles.
Hengaw Organization for Human Rights strongly condemns the continuation of these attacks and calls on the international community, the central government of Iraq, and international institutions not to remain silent in the face of repeated violations of the sovereignty of the Kurdistan Region and the killing of civilians by the IRGC.
The organization urges immediate and serious action to stop these military aggressions.
Hengaw reminds that no lasting peace will be possible without serious action against such attacks.
