Three more arrested in Mahabad; total number of arrests rose to 10

With the recent arrest of three more Kurdish residents of Mahabad, including two brothers named Rebwar Rasouli, Ayoub Rasouli, and Osman Jahanifar (Shwaneh), the number of arrests in the city has increased to 10.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on the morning of Sunday, December 15, 2024, Rebwar Rasouli and Ayoub Rasouli, both residents of Mahabad, were arrested by agents of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). At the same time, security forces raided the home of Osman (Shwaneh) Jahanifar and arrested him without presenting any warrant.

Previously, Hengaw reported the arrests of seven other individuals: Yousef Qal, Aram Mabzoleh, Zaniyar Seyedahmadi, and Siamand Seyedahmadi, four young men from the village of Bayram near Mahabad, as well as Qader Kharamanfar, Kamal Masoudi, and Jalal Sadafi, all residents of Mahabad.

During the arrests, security forces resorted to violence and searched the detainees’ homes, confiscating their personal belongings.

According to informed sources, all 10 detainees have been transferred to a security detention center in Urmia. The families’ attempts to obtain information about their fate and condition have so far been unfruitful.

So far, there is no confirmed information regarding the reasons for the arrests or the charges against them.
