Two more Kurds arrested in Mahabad, bringing detainee count to 12

Two additional Kurdish men from Mahabad, identified as Rahman Dana and Salar Shamsi Borhan, were arrested by security forces, raising the total number of detainees in the city to 12.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Rahman Dana and Salar Shamsi Borhan, both residents of Kolije village, were arrested by IRGC Intelligence forces on the evening of Saturday, December 14, 2024.
On the morning of Sunday, December 15, 2024, two brothers, Rebwar Rasouli and Ayoub Rasouli, also from Mahabad, were arrested. Simultaneously, Osman (Shiwaneh) Jahani Far was arrested during a raid on his family home, conducted without the presentation of an arrest warrant.
Hengaw had previously reported the arrest of seven other Kurds in Mahabad, identified as Youssef Qal, Aram Mabzuleh, Zanyar Seyed Ahmadi, and Siamand Seyed Ahmadi (from the village of Bayram), Qader Kharamanfar, Kamal Masoudi, and Jalal Sadafi.
These individuals were violently arrested, with security forces conducting house searches and confiscating personal belongings.
Sources state that all 12 detainees have been transferred to a security detention center in Urmia. Families’ efforts to obtain any information regarding their loved ones’ whereabouts, health conditions, or legal status have so far been unsuccessful.
