Seven prisoners hanged in Iran prisons

Death sentences of seven prisoners, including Kurdish and Turkish prisoners, have been carried out across different prisons in Iran in the last two days, involving prisoners charged with crimes such as drug-related offences and murder.
According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on the morning of Monday, November 25, 2024, Alireza Nourian, a 42-year-old Kurdish man from Esfarayen, hanged in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad. Nourian had been in custody for three years after being convicted by the judiciary on drug-related charges.
The next day, Tuesday, November 26, 2024, three additional executions were carried out. Amirhossein Rahimi, 36, from Isfahan, and Ali Rostami, 28, from Shahinshahr, were executed in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan. Both had been convicted of murder, with Rahimi arrested for six years and Rostami for three years. Additionally, Jafar Mirzaqassemi, a 35-year-old Turk from Tabriz, was executed in Zanjan Central Prison on drug-related charges. Mirzaqassemi had been in detention for three years.
On the same day, in Karaj Central Prison (referred to by state media as "Karaj Central Penitentiary"), the death sentence of Ehsan Basati Valiabad, 31-year-old man from Kuhdasht, was carried out. He had been arrested four years ago on drug-related charges. Basati was transferred to solitary confinement on Sunday, November 24, 2024, ahead of his execution.
Similarly, Reza Shahbazi Khalari, a resident of Shiraz, was executed in Shiraz Central Prison on Monday, November 25, 2024. Khalari had been convicted of murder prior to his execution.
On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, the execution of Jahangir Rahimi, a Kurdish prisoner from Saqqez, was carried out in Saqqez Central Prison. Rahimi had been convicted of the premeditated murder of a man named Mullah Salahaddin two years ago. Sources report that Rahimi was transferred to solitary confinement in preparation for his execution on November 4, 2024.
