Hengaw: Sunday, December 29, 2024
Amid an ongoing wave of arrests in Kurdistan, three more Kurdish individuals—Khaled Mohammadian, Amin Baziyan, and Waysa Ghafouri—have been arrested by security forces in Sardasht and Piranshahr. This brings the total number of recent arrests in Piranshahr to six.
According to reports received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, early on Saturday, December 28, 2024, Waysa Ghafouri, 25, a resident of Piranshahr, and Khaled Mohammadian, a native of Nestan village in Sardasht and resident of Rabat, were arrested without arrest warrants and taken to unknown locations.
Sources report that security forces, using unmarked vehicles, raided Khaled Mohammadian’s home, arresting him and conducting a search of his residence.
Additionally, on Friday, December 27, Amin Baziyan, 22, a resident of Piranshahr, was detained by intelligence forces and transferred to an unknown location. Despite three days having passed since his arrest, no information about his condition or whereabouts has been made available.
With the arrests of Waysa (Sayko) and Amin Baziyan, the number of arrested people in Piranshahr over the past two days has risen to six.
Previously, Hengaw reported on the arrest of four other people: Aram Mohammadi, a resident of Pasveh village in Piranshahr; Behzad Mahmoudi, 27, also from Pasveh; Mousa Rasouli, 30, from Khoranj village; and Soran Mohammadpour, 25, from Piranshahr. These individuals were reportedly arrested during widespread raids by intelligence forces on their homes.
According to Hengaw’s sources in Piranshahr, the intelligence forces used intimidation and excessive violence during these arrests and home searches, confiscating personal items such as mobile phones.
Efforts by the families of these individuals to obtain information about their condition or whereabouts have so far been fruitless. Security authorities have refused to provide any explanation regarding their detention.
So far, no clear details about the reasons for the arrests, the charges filed, or the current status of these Kurdish individuals have been made available.
