Ongoing arrests of Arab activists: Two arrested in Ahvaz

Two Arab activists from Ahvaz, identified as Mohammad Abiat and Saeed Dorqi, have been arrested by security forces for five days, with their whereabouts and condition remaining unknown. These arrests bring the total number of detained Arab activists in recent days to 23.

According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the arrests took place on Monday, January 6, 2025. Mohammad Abiat, aged 32, and Saeed Dorqi, aged 38, were arrested by intelligence officers and transferred to an undisclosed location.

Despite the passage of five days, the families of both activists have been unable to obtain any information about their status. Security authorities have refused to provide details regarding their detention or condition.

It is noteworthy that Mohammad Abiat has previously been arrested for his civic activities and has an unresolved case in the Revolutionary Court, for which no verdict has been issued.

As of this report, no information has been made available regarding the reasons for their arrests, the charges they face, their place of detention, or their current condition.
