Continued Detention and Lack of Information on the Status of Maryam Mahmoudabadi

Maryam Mahmoudabadi, a women’s rights activist from Sirjan in Kerman Province, has been detained by the IRGC Intelligence forces for over two weeks, with her current status remaining unknown.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the 25-year-old activist has been held in solitary confinement at the Tharallah IRGC detention center in Kerman since her detention two weeks ago.
A reliable source has reported that security forces have threatened her family, warning that any public disclosure of her detention would result in her continued imprisonment.
As of this report, there is no precise information regarding the reasons for her arrest or the charges against her, and she has had no contact with her family since her detention.
Maryam Mahmoudabadi was arrested on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, during a raid by IRGC Intelligence forces on her family home.
It is noteworthy that Maryam Mahmoudabadi had previously been detained by the security agencies of the Islamic Republic of Iran during the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement.
