Two Kurds Arrested by Iranian Security Forces in Relation to Nawroz Celebrations in Kurdistan

Iranian security forces detained two Kurdish individuals, Zanko Iranzadeh and Omar Sharifpour of Sardasht, in connection with Nawroz celebrations in Kurdistan.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, Zanko Iranzadeh, 32, and Omar Sharifpour, 23, residents of the village "Ghaleh Rashi" in Sardasht, were apprehended by intelligence forces without the presentation of warrants or judicial documents, and were subsequently taken to an undisclosed location.

Despite six days having elapsed since their arrest, there has been no information regarding theirl. Efforts made by their families to obtain information have been unsuccessful.

Hengaw has learned that the arrest of these two citizens was in connection with the special Nawroz celebration events in Kurdistan.

As of the time of this report, precise details regarding the charges, location of detention, and the status of Zanko Iranzadeh and Omar Sharifpour remain unknown.
