Capital Punishment Implemented for Two Inmates in Iranian Prisons

The capital punishment of two prisoners, identified as Jafar Aslani and Naser Atarod, was carried out in Qazvin and Qom prisons. These prisoners were previously sentenced to death for homicide and drug-related offenses.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, the death sentence of Jafar Aslani, 40, was implemented at the central prison in Qazvin (Chubindar).

According to informed sources, this prisoner was arrested three years ago on "drug-related" charges and sentenced to death by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Additionally, on Tuesday, May 14, the death sentence of Naser Atarod, a 37-year-old individual from Qom who was arrested six years ago for homicide, was also carried out at the central prison in Qom.

As of the release date of this news, the execution of these two prisoners has not been announced in government media, particularly those that are affiliated with the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
