A female architecture student named Kimia Tarkashvand committed suicide for unknown reasons in the "Dabbagh" female dormitory of Bu-Ali Sina University in Hamedan. Due to the lack of prompt rescue efforts, she lost her life. The university security's 40-minute obstruction of the ambulance's entry resulted in the young student's death.
According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on the evening of Thursday, June 20, 2024, a female student identified as Kimia Tarkashvand from Tuyserkan, a town in Hamedan province, and a fourth-semester architecture student, attempted suicide by ingesting pills in the Dabbagh female dormitory of Bu-Ali Sina University in Hamedan.
A student from the university told Hengaw: "The university's security forces prevented the ambulance from entering the female dormitory for 40 minutes. After this delay, the security forces also prevented Kimia's transfer into the ambulance under the pretext of inappropriate clothing. Eventually, after dressing her and with an additional 10-minute delay, the student was transferred into the ambulance, and she died just as she was being transferred."
As of the time of this report, there is no precise information available regarding the reasons for this student's suicide. However, late on Thursday night, university security forces and security personnel surrounded the Dabbagh female dormitory and threatened students against publicizing this news.
