Hengaw – Saturday, June 20, 2026

The disciplinary committee of Sharif University of Technology has expelled seven students and barred some of them from continuing their education under severe disciplinary rulings.

Information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights shows that Parnian Khodabakhshi, Sepanta Saeidi, and Fariborz Kohanzad were expelled and banned from higher education for five years. Reza Dalman was expelled and barred from studying for four years, while Masiha Baqeri, Fatemeh Khakpour, and Hossein Shadman were expelled from the university.

Several of the students had previously been acquitted by the Iranian Judiciary but were nevertheless subjected to these severe penalties by the university's disciplinary council.

Sources indicate that Sepanta Saeidi, Hossein Shadman, and Masiha Baqeri were punished for their activity on social media, while the remaining students were sanctioned in connection with the January protests.

Reza Dalman was arrested by Iranian authorities on March 18, 2026, during the 40-day war between Iran, the United States, and Israel. He was released on bail after one month and remained temporarily free pending the conclusion of judicial proceedings.
